Warren H Williams

with special guests Kasey Chambers, Adam Thomson, Shane Nicholson, KYARNA and the Williams family

A legend of Australian Country Music and an Indigenous icon, Warren H Williams has created a new album in his native tongue, Western Arrarnta language. The new album is called “Undar Werma” – “Are you Listening” and represents his 11th career album.

An Australian Country Music Hall of Famer and multi award winning singer songwriter, Mr Williams has embarked on a unique album project designed to both preserve and promote indigenous language and to also gain cultural understanding and unity amongst all Australians. This will be his first full studio album in language.

“Are you Listening” is, without a doubt, the most important album in Warren H Williams career as it represents a pinnacle in a lifetime journey in music, art and culture. By the creation of this album, and standing on the platform of his 10 previous successful albums, Warren H Williams attempts to create enduring Australian and cultural legacy by revealing his true heart, culture and beginnings through language.

By sharing so deeply on this record, it is Warrens dream to completely normalise indigenous language in the mainstream and to fulfill a burning desire to continue to bridge any cultural gaps in a positive way through his music.

Historically, the family and community Warren’s traditional home in Ntaria (The settlement of Hermannsburg) have been well known, both nationally and internationally, for creating and fostering a language preservation and promotion mission through the formation and uninterrupted continuance of the Hermannsburg choir, founded in 1877 by the Lutheran Mission.

This new album is a departure from his embedded traditional country music style with the inclusion of classic production themes. The production themes employed in this album create a more mainstream springboard for the delivery of language in song and gives breadth to Warrens broader message of oneness.

The album also includes duets with some of Australia’s mainstream music household names who have generously come on board with this album project to support and amplify Warrens message of unity.

It is Warrens hope that through the promotion of his new album, that he will also reignite the passion of his community, especially the youth, to continue the song, language and choir traditions of Warrens fore family and the broader Hermannsburg community, and to carry it on into the future with strength and pride.
